About Us

Rooted in Faith, Committed to the Gospel

A Legacy of Sharing God’s Word Across India

India Bible Study is an initiative of Bible Faith Lutheran Ministries to India (BFLMI), a U.S. based charitable organization dedicated to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For nearly 40 years, BFLMI has spread the Word of God through two core programs: the Moriah School and Children’s Home and the Bible Faith Lutheran Church of India (BFLC). As a natural extension of this mission, India Bible Study was created to translate and deliver biblical teachings in the heart languages throughout Indian communities.

Spreading the Gospel Across India

Our History of Translation Work Began in the 1990s

India Bible Study’s foundation lies in a rich history of translation work that began in the 1990s. It started with Rev. Bhushana Rao Dasari translating Luther’s Small Catechism (Kuske’s) into Telugu. Over the years, the effort expanded through the Bible Faith Lutheran Church in India, eventually becoming a dedicated outreach initiative over a decade ago. Today, the Telugu translation of The Book of Concord is nearing completion – marking a faithful legacy in making God’s Word accessible to the Indian people.

Our Story

India Bible Study:
A Translation Project

In 2009, The Lutheran Study Bible (LSB) notes were published by Concordia Publishing House in St. Louis, Missouri. Inspired by the LSB, the BFLC leadership wanted to translate the LSB notes into the Telugu language in 2010. The work however did not begin until 2018 and by that time, the vision expanded to translating the LSB in all 15 major languages of India.

The purpose of producing the India Study Bible and other Christian and doctrinal material is to help build the holy, apostolic church in India today and for generations to come. The Gospel outreach of this project is expansive and has the potential to reach over one billion people in India and throughout the world.
